Scrambler bike seized during proactive patrols

Dear Resident

PCSO 6108 WALLER from your local Neighbourhood Policing Team was out and about conducting cycle patrols in The Swillett playing fields in Chorleywood on Friday the 4th of July, due to reports of high-powered illegal E-Bikes and Scrambler bikes being used in this location.

The patrol was to provide reassurance and to be a visible deterrent to criminals. PCSO Waller did not spot any motorbikes at this location however, he did notice a Scrambler Bike on Quickley lane, Chorleywood.

His attention was drawn to the bike, as the rider had no helmet and no number plate. While the rider's details were being requested, PCSO 6108 WALLER's attention was drawn to a strong smell of alcohol coming from the rider. PCSO 6108 Waller requested the help of intervention colleagues, who came to assist. A roadside breath test was conducted by our intervention colleagues, before the the rider was arrested for providing a sample of breath over the prescribed limit. His bike was then seized for being driven with no insurance.

We will be carrying out further patrols to deter any further anti-social behaviour in this area, as well as other hotspot locations such as South Oxhey and Croxley Green. We will continue to lookout for illegal high powered bikes and unregistered scrambler bikes in response to feedback from residents who have witnessed dangerous and anti-social riding involving these vehicles.

If you are experiencing issues with e-bikes and scrambler bikes in your community, please tell us. If you don't see us while we're patrolling in your area, please complete this short survey to tell us what you think we should be prioritising in your area.
